It started with one gym that couldn't afford to wait
Fitnito wasn't dreamed up in a boardroom. It was built in a hurry, for a friend, because a small business was about to be left in the lurch.
Michelle owns Coast Life Conditioning, an independent gym with a tight-knit group of members. Like a lot of small gyms, she relied on a third-party booking platform to let her clients reserve classes. Then the price went up — steeply. For a small, owner-run business, the increase cut too deep into already-thin margins to justify. So she cancelled.
That left a problem: in less than a month, her members would lose the ability to book their classes. The backup plan was a spreadsheet and a lot of crossed fingers.
That's where Fitnito began. We sat down with Michelle and stripped the problem down to what actually mattered: members needed to log in, see a calendar, and book a class on their phone. She needed to add recurring weekly classes with a class limit and an instructor — and know who was coming. No enterprise bloat. No rocket science. Just the handful of things a real gym needs to keep running.
We built it and got her members booking again before the next billing cycle hit — and the switch was smooth enough that her clients barely noticed the platform underneath had changed.
